Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide information about the psychometric properties of technology-enhanced items. Specifically, this research evaluates the item characteristics, item information, and other properties of three item types used in K-12 standardized assessment in ways that allow comparisons across item types. This analysis indicated that there may be a difference in the way students perform on multiple-choice, input text, and technology-enhanced items. Students may perform differently on TE items depending on ability level. Specifically, TE items may provide more information and be more accessible to students at higher levels of ability.
