Washington Educational Research Association. Evaluation of K–12 Alignment to Standards

Mon, April 16, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Crown Plaza Times Square, Floor: Fourth Floor, Times Square B Room

Abstract

In November 2016, a large urban school district conducted an internal, participatory evaluation involving family focus groups, student focus groups, an educator survey, and a district office survey. The goal was to find out how teaching in the district aligned with state standards and get input for a project to improve standards alignment. This paper was published and distributed to share findings and recommendations from the data across the district. The paper launched a district K-12 Standards Alignment Project, which has engaged over 500 educators in being part of change efforts to further the implementation of standards-based education since the paper was published in January, 2017.
