For the Common Good: A New History of Higher Education in America (Cornell University Press, 2017) is the first comprehensive history of American higher education to engage a fundamental question dating to the nation’s founding: How, if at all, have colleges and universities contributed to the common good? This session will convene three leading scholars to discuss the book’s central claims.
