Session Type: Symposium
Oftentimes, discussions around social justice, teaching methodologies, and critical theories become separated and siloed. We not only see these discussions as interconnected but as fueling essential educational practices that reaffirm the personal and political value of taking pleasure in making, teaching and learning in the context of a neoliberal and fundamentally unequal education system. This symposium aims to bridge the gap between what tends to constitute art practice, research, teaching, and social justice. The authors present a series of situated and embodied political acts that take shape in various combinations as artworks, social actions, theories and pedagogies.
