Session Type: Symposium
The main objective of this symposium is to examine writing processes from multidisciplinary perspectives. One presentation explains the multidisciplinary theoretical framing for the session, and then reports results from a study of writing comparing composition in music and writing. The second extends appraisal theory to articulate a multimodal language of emotions in an analysis of adolescent book trailers. The third focuses on results from a study of the role of craft knowledge in the composing process, and how such knowledge might shape the teaching of composition. The fourth focuses on children’s conceptions of writing in relation to digital video composition. The symposium reports new research findings on writing, and identifies potential areas of knowledge for future development and research.
