The Future of Research on Moral Education: Desires and Possibilities for How Moral Education Can Contribute to a Culture of Social Justice

Abstract

In this symposium five researchers that contributed more than three decades to the field of moral education will formulate what they have learned and what they think are challenges for the future. They all will reflect on how their research questions have been developed by their theoretical and empirical research, new theoretical perspectives, and changes in the social and cultural context of moral development and education. The topics are: moral functioning and moral learning; participation and democracy; ethical sensitivity and culture; the moral and the political in teaching; and moral development and cultural narratives.
