Four scholar/researchers examine the role of philosophy in elementary and secondary education (ESE), from the perspectives of: 1) its role in disciplinary inquiry (math, history, science, etc); 2) communal philosophical inquiry as a distinctive pedagogical form in a school setting; 3) the role of philosophy in authentic democratic governance within the classroom and the school; and 4) the role of philosophy in the preparation and ongoing development of ESE teachers. Each participant will present a short (10 minute) summary on one of these topics, following which a list of questions will be generated by both participants and audience, and a discussion ensue, facilitated by the Chair.
