Session Type: Symposium
Using a meta-ethnographic approach, five researchers who used ethnographic methods to explore a diverse range of school cultures discuss the challenges and triumphs that methodological approach provides. These contexts include secondary school teachers in Korea, urban East Coast middle schools, a dual-language middle school science classroom, a high-achieving, predominantly Asian-American high school honors science course and a literature and literacy workshop in an informal education setting. Each researcher will provide an overview of their context and specific methods before the larger group meta-ethnography is presented for dialogue among the researchers and the discussant.
