Abstract

This session curates a collection of papers that examines the current and potential contributions of Cultural-Historical approaches to study the teaching and learning of students with dis/abilities. Drawing from Vygotsky’s (1978; 1993) work on learning and dis/ability, the panel will (a) review existing research using Cultural-Historical theories to study the teaching and learning of students with dis/abilities, and (b) present examples of this scholarship including studies on students with mathematics learning dis/ability, bilingual children with dis/abilities, and studies using university-practitioner partnerships to disrupt deficit views of dis/ability.
