Abstract

One important prerequisite for schools to successfully adapt to contextual change is their improvement capacity. However, previous studies are deficient in the careful analysis of the respective processes. Moreover, they seldom identify factors of effective adaptation to improve learning opportunities. Against this background, two research questions will be analyzed: RQ1) how do schools adapt their processes and structures to the contextual change? RQ2) what are the driving factors of the adaptation to those changes? The symposium aims at contributing to the field in providing results from complex empirical case studies from an international perspective. This allows analyzing thoroughly, which factors support successful adaptation processes in order to better achieve the learning goals.
