Session Type: Symposium
Across the country, schools are spending considerable resources to adapt instruction to Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. This symposium brings together different studies of math and science standards implementation to illustrate the variation in strategies enacted, the conditions that mediate their success, the barriers teachers and administrators face, and the extent of changes in instruction. Collectively, the papers examine factors influencing standards implementation at different levels of the educational system (teacher, school, district, and state), including the influence of policy environments, district and school structures, time in professional development, and experience with the standards over time.
