Session Type: Symposium
This interactive 90-minute symposium will present and analyze the work of member systems of the Atlantic Rim Collaboratory, a global public education network oriented towards humanistic education reform. Specifically, it will examine how three systems – Ireland, Scotland, and Ontario – define and measure wellbeing as an imperative for educational change internationally. The symposium will identify the similar and contrasting ways in which the three systems relate wellbeing to student achievement as: 1) a catalyst for achievement, 2) a complement to achievement, and 3) a constituent of achievement in its own right. It will also explore how they connect student wellbeing to teacher wellbeing.
