Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this session is to explore possibilities of method/s in (post-)qualitative research, particularly in light of post-humanist/poststructural/new materialist critiques of ‘conventional’ qualitative research. Instead of viewing qualitative methods as incompatible with philosophically informed (post-)qualitative inquiry, the papers in this session theorize method/s as thinking tools enabling diversified understandings and ways of approaching data, research, and philosophical inquiry. They consider the productive potentialities and possibilities of method and philosophical inquiry, pushing at boundaries drawn around and between philosophy as method, post-qualitative, and ‘conventional’ qualitative research. Ample time for audience discussion will further ongoing conversation and questions about the role of method/s in (post-)qualitative research.
