Recent research in adaptive computing has led to innovative approaches to designing and validating assessment that simulates authentic learning environments and better engages learners in task performance. The aim of this symposium is to review the development of scenario and simulation-based assessment systems, discuss design principles that guide the development, and critically examine conceptual and psychometric opportunities and challenges.
