Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will provide an overview of findings from a national study of Title I schools, including those with targeted assistance (TAP) and schoolwide (SWP) programs. The study included a national survey of Title I school principals and district coordinators and case studies of 35 schools. The presentations in this symposium will include findings for each of the research questions that guided the study, with an eye toward differences between SWP and TAP schools. Specifically, we describe the types of activities and resources funded by Title I; decision-making process for determining use of funds; and the flexibility exercised by SWP schools. Discussants will include an official from the U.S. Department of Education and two practitioners.
