Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will explore Spanish English dual language immersion education in the US and French immersion education in Canada. The symposium will include three empirical studies with Spanish-English bilinguals in the US and two empirical studies with English-French bilinguals in Canada. Given that immersion programs are increasing worldwide and the findings from the five studies will be discussed in relation to the language and literacy development of bilingual children, the symposium will appeal to not only researchers and educational practitioners of bilingual children, but also those who are broadly interested in general language and literacy development.
