Session Type: Roundtable Session
There is no panacea in assessing program outcomes, but it is critical to start with the nature of the problem and the answers that we seek as evidence for decision making. This symposium presents theoretical underpinnings of models for assessing program outcomes as well as pragmatic guidelines for application of these models. Session presenters will address implementation challenges as well as issues concerning standards, evidence and judgement in making decisions about programs. The symposium uses healthcare education as the context. However, while the cases are drawn from healthcare education the discussion will give the audience an opportunity to assess relevance to other settings and engage in a more global dialogue about assessing program outcomes.
