Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
A number of theorists have influenced our thinking about the responsibilities of professional education in promoting the public good. The work of Sen and Nussbaum encouraged researchers to develop a view of higher education through the lens of ‘capability development’. As educators, we have the opportunity to facilitate the development of personal identity, including engaging students so that they develop capabilities based on their own values and desires. In this interactive session, attendees will be invited to develop their own collaborative agendas to generate projects that will move education research in the professions forward. The session will focus on reviewing models of professional capabilities and identifying areas for research in assessment, teaching and learning, professional development and diversity and inclusion.
