How School Leaders Humanize Their Schools and Work for Social Justice: Testimonios From the New York City Trenches

Abstract

Under the leadership of Division A Vice President Dr. Michael Dantley, members have been engaging in thoughtful conversations intended to advance our field so that our scholarship can be more useful for school leaders on the front lines. This invited session brings together a group of NYC school leaders who are doing the important work of advocating for equity and social justice in their schools and their communities, and creates a much-needed space for dialogue between the academy and practitioners. Panelists will discuss their efforts to humanize their schools and communities through their activism, and will share their recommendations for how Division A members can be more actively engaged in partnering with leaders to create more equitable schools.
