The proposed fireside chat addresses the critical issue in education of how evaluation and assessment in schools can be (re)conceptualized and purposed to develop a culture of reflective practice within a learning organization. Reflective practice in school communities is a key ingredient in the pursuit of equitable opportunity for all students; without reflective practice, many of the disparate initiatives and separate pools of evaluation and assessment remain detached from the development of a strong school culture. Within the context of current approaches to school accountability, evaluation and assessment occurs often without an explicit link to questions that are important internally to the culture and identity of the school. This fireside chat will explore related questions and solutions.
