Beyond the Doctorate: Transition from Graduate Student Into and Outside Academia

Abstract

This session will offer graduate students a broad sense of what is expected of a tenure-track faculty member and a research professional working outside of academia, and shed light on various aspects of the jobs as they are performed in and outside of the United States. This session will be held in two parts--during the first half, the panelists will broadly answer questions provided by the audience and during the second half, panelists will disburse around the room and students will be invited to move between tables and speak with the scholars in small groups. Lots of wisdom and experience will be shared during this session. Make sure to bring your questions!
