The aim of the present investigation is to validate the Expectancy Value Scale (EVS) for teachers with regards to learning and applying information technology. Participants were 866 teachers from 58 kindergartens. Results revealed that the EVS consisted of two subscales: Expectancy and Value. Results further indicated that latent factor means for the EVS were invariance across age and education level. In addition, consistent with theoretical expectation, Expectancy and Value were negatively related to distractions while learning and applying information technology. Taken together, the present study suggests that the EVS is a factorially valid scale for measuring kindergarten teachers’ motivational beliefs with regards to information technology.
