Employing a multiple case study approach, the current study investigated how music-themed multimedia activities can be integrated into early literacy curricula to support young bilingual learners' language and literacy development and critical thinking skills. As part of a larger project, this particular study focused on the literacy curricula in three lower grade classrooms from a charter school within a southwestern cross-border metropolitan area in the United States. Extensive qualitative data were collected through multiple sources including classroom observation, interviews, and analysis of the children's productions. Analysis of findings showed that the multimedia-enriched curriculum helped generate a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment where the children could explore literacy in deeper and more meaningful ways.
