Wild Pedagogies is a scholastic experiment and alternative to conventional research conferences bringing together scholars to co-create knowledge with/in wild places. In this session, we will discuss theoretical roots, research approach, conference structure and key inquires of Wild Pedagogies. Session will include the editors of the recently published book Wild Pedagogies: Touchstones for Re-Negotiating Education and the Environment in the Anthropocene (2018). The book is the culmination of a 2017 gathering that assembled international scholars on a sailboat off the west coast of Scotland for a Sailing Colloquium followed by a writing retreat inspired by dialogue between human and other-than-human interlocutors. Such scholastic experiments are aimed at re-wilding pedagogy such that environmental education means learning from/with the voices of place.
