Principals' Perceptions on Implementing Special Education Services in School

Fri, April 5, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

Reviewing related studies, it is found that only limited research focused on whether principals have adequate knowledge and skills to special education, on where and to what extent principals obtain their knowledge and skills, and on how the knowledge and skills possessed by principals may have impacted their decision making related to special education. In use of the sequential explanatory design, the preliminary findings from this study indicated that, on average, principals didn’t have basic knowledge of special education and hadn’t been fully engaged in special education in their leadership practices.
