This paper looks at the everyday educational practices of a group of recently arrived immigrant youth labeled "at-risk" in a school specifically designed for recently arrived immigrant youth. Weaving together ethnography and historical anthropology, the paper looks to the possibilities for equality in education that can be found beyond dominant educational research questions of access and outcomes.
