Sat, April 6, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall G

Abstract

Over the past decades, digital media have become a part of virtually all aspects of our professional and private lives. Yet, research into ICT in schools is often focused on the classroom, missing the organizational perspective.
In an exploratory study, we analyzed how principals use digital media and view it as a factor relative to leadership and improvement. Our theoretical framework is rooted in current models of school improvement and educational leadership, coupled with the notion of ICT as an innovation that can have sustaining as well as disruptive properties
The results indicate that digital media play a role in almost all aspects of the professional lives of principals, creating new challenges for which principals are currently not formally prepared.
