Articulating the Affective Knots of Encounters, Educational Spaces, and Gender Politics in Feminist (Post-)Qualitative Inquiry

Abstract

This paper entangles with (post)qualitative inquiry and critical feminist posthumanism to (re)turn to an arts-based workshop which sought to disrupt thinking about gendered bodies in academic spaces. A (re)turn to the (post)qualitative workshop enables us to ponder the intersections with/through our affective cartographies as feminist researchers. By articulating the multiplicity of complex affective encounters between non-humans, materialities and humans that can be ‘hosted’ in a workshop within a feminist academic conference, our paper demonstrates the ethical complexity of feminist knowledge production. We situate critical feminist posthumanism with the Annual Meeting’s themes as we seek to enact a more democratic and ethical vision which include non-human and human materializations of gender-in-the-making to contribute to, and trouble, gender politics in education.
