This study explores the nature of the teacher competence to timely deal with school bullying. On the base of a literature review and interviews with teachers, a script was designed for handling bullying. 16 secondary school teachers – experienced in school bullying interventions - participated in the interview. Analysis of interview data and relevant literatures resulted in two constructs. (1) The first construct refers to ‘structuring management for school bullying’ and builds on three steps: (a) identifying school bullying, (b) stabilizing the incident, (c) clarifying incidents and implementing learning. (2) The second construct builds on ‘setting the appropriate atmosphere for bullying management’. It pushes teachers to establish the appropriate mood for effective bullying management.
