Abstract

This institutional ethnography sought to uncover and describe the institutional practices of STEM education through the perspectives of undergraduate women transitioning to Southern Research University (referred to as Southern University; SU) and majoring in computer science or physics. This study provides a unique and much-needed perspective on STEM in higher education by exploring the everyday work of undergraduate women transitioning to post-secondary STEM programs as a lens through which to examine the STEM higher education institution.
