Sun, April 7, 11:50am to 1:20pm, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Floor: Lower Concourse, Grand Centre

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the Student Transfer Reform Act of 2010 (SB1440) on student success. Student success metrics were identified as time to degree conferral, unit accumulation, and transfer attainment. Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) were systematized per SB 1440. The goal of this initiative is to streamline the transfer process and increase the bachelor degree completion rates. SB 1440 established an alignment between California Community Colleges (CCC) and California State University (CSU). Aggregate data from the CCC Chancellor’s office were examined along with comprehensive data provided from two participating institutions. The two CCCs were identified based on the number of ADT degrees awarded over a five year period.
