Women leaders of color in K-12 school districts lead as tempered radicals/servant leaders. Using Judy Alston’s (2005) framework, this session will focus on how they keep their social justice agenda at the forefront when they serve their communities and the life experiences of K-12 women leaders of color and how they think of leadership and make leadership decisions as tempered radicals/servant leaders in 2018 when faced with: 1) neoliberal demands on education, 2) the racialized climate and increased racial tensions due to the current political climate and 3) theintractable issue of students of color and student achievement.
