As we enter an era of global human mobility, students with various backgrounds enter schools and undergo assessments. However, it is not clear if the test-taking strategies used by students are universal. The purpose of this study was: 1) to perform a preliminary investigation on the psychometric quality of the English adaptation of a test-taking strategies questionnaire, and 2) to explore possible variations in test-taking practices and beliefs in two countries with varied testing cultures. The findings indicate that this questionnaire has adequate psychometric properties, while some test-taking strategy variations exist. These differences are discussed within an Educational Psychology framework.
