Online Adaptive Learning: A Study of Score Validity of the Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning Model

Tue, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

Adaptive Learning, a new web-based online learning, requires self-regulated learners acting autonomously. However, to date, there is no existing model to guide different aspects of SRL in AL. This study proposed a new model of Self-Regulated Learning within AL. This model was tested through developing a questionnaire and its hypothesized factor structure was empirically evaluated by conducting a CFA of the instrument scores with structural equation modeling. The proposed Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning model measures the unique aspects of SRL in the AL. A panel of content experts and CFA were combined to validate the model. The model showed good fit with 29 items divided over eight scales and a valid conceptual framework to study the effect of SRL in AL.
