Mon, April 8, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Floor: Second Floor, Churchill

Abstract

This quantitative study aims at examining potential factors that influence participation in data driven decision-making (DDDM) among community college leaders. We collected survey data from 229 community college leaders within the state of Iowa. Through exploratory factor analysis, we tested measures of three factors that may influence leaders' involvement in DDDM: infrastructure, professional development, and institutional culture. In the subsequent regression analysis, we revealed the significant influence of institutional culture on leaders' involvement in DDDM. Findings support the need for community colleges to invest time and resources into building an institutional culture that are supportive of data driven decision-making. Findings also contributed to the research gap of the relationship between DDDM and community college leadership.
