Abstract

Flipped-classrooms are of theoretical and practical interest in medical schools, with its potential to offer open inquiry, flexible access to knowledge, and active learning opportunities to learners. Medical educators actively inquire about its effectiveness and critical factors that would impact the results of this approach. This study investigated the effectiveness of flipped classroom approaches through randomized experiments. Besides, it investigated how students’ personality traits account for learning outcomes both in lecturing method and in flipped method. The study gives an insight to the emerging question about the value of flipped classroom in relation to learning outcomes and the potential groups of learners who might benefit differently from this digital-media rich, learner-centered approach.
