This paper presents the findings from a survey of Title IX coordinators in K-12 school districts. We learned that respondents were mostly new to this role and reported spending very little time on Title IX-related duties. They received minimal training on Title IX yet mostly reported that their district was consistently compliant. However, we found that in the context of recent guidance documents for Title IX coordinators, most districts were out of compliance. We will discuss how to address these challenges and contradictions in order to address issues of sex discrimination in schools and offer recommendations for how to improve the supports available in the face of reduced action from the Department of Education.
