The aim of this investigation is to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and usability of ERAS, a web-based experiential role-playing aging simulation. ERAS was designed to increase undergraduate students’ understanding of the aging process. Participants completed an electronic survey (n = 42) and a face-to-face think-aloud protocol (n = 10). Results indicate that ERAS has good foundations in terms of its intended instructional goals and ability to provide the required content and activities to the learner. The data analyzed also suggest that participants experienced some challenges with the interface and overall usability of the simulation, which in turn could have an effect on their desire to interact with the simulation and its content regularly.
