The STEM fields have long been inequitable in terms of who participates and advances in STEM learning. While there are numerous barriers and challenges to “broadening participation,” one of them is the teaching and learning that occurs in postsecondary STEM classrooms. Evidence-based instructional practices have been demonstrated to lead to positive student outcomes, but there is a need for research on the mechanisms for faculty adoption. This study examines a STEM faculty community of practice using a collaborative design approach to generate shared meanings of creativity and integration of EBIP in design for creativity in STEM education. We present the research approach and findings that elucidate both the benefits and challenges of this shared vision and approach to faculty change.
