Mon, April 8, 8:00 to 9:30am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 300 Level, Hall C

Abstract

The purpose of this sequential explanatory mixed-method study was to evaluate the use of a simulated-based learning tool at 10 colleges and universities in the United States and Puerto Rico as an aid to increasing teacher candidates’ understanding of diverse learners, specifically students with exceptionalities. After the analysis of the data, the researchers determined that results of the study supported the use of simSchool as an aid to increasing teacher candidates’ understanding of the educational needs of students with special needs and gifted students, confidence in the implementation of differentiated instruction, and confidence in the implementation of behavior management strategies.
