Multiple external representations are considered particularly important for learning and problem solving in the field of mathematics. Aiming at a conceptual replication of the study of Ott, Brünken, Vogel, and Malone (2018), the current study was conducted to develop material to explore the use of additional textual and graphical representations to solve linear equation systems, which are usually provided to the students as mathematical formulas. First results show, that the developed graphics are especially compelling to the learners. Furthermore, the participants reported to have tried to integrate formulas and graphics to solve the provided systems of equations.
