The purpose of this study was to explore associations among children’s attitudes towards mathematics, technology use, awareness of game features and affordances, and learning outcomes when interacting with digital math games. Researchers collected data from 193 children (ages 8-12), for a total of 551 app interactions. Researchers ran an SEM mediation path analysis using MPLUS software. Results indicated positive attitudes towards mathematics have positive effects on awareness of game features and affordances and on learning outcomes. Children’s increased awareness of features and affordances increased learning outcomes. Researchers found gender differences between pathways. Results suggest the importance of positive mathematics attitudes and the importance of bringing forward digital math games’ features and affordances to better support children’s learning with technology.
