Understanding the Assessment Literacy of the English Language Teachers in Bangladesh

Abstract

This paper presents the findings from a study conducted in 10 Bangladesh English language teachers. The study aimed to investigate if English teachers in Bangladesh possess Language Assessment Literacy (LAL). Document analysis and semi-structured interviews were used as the data collection methods. The findings explored that LAL is still a far-reaching issue among the English language teachers in Bangladesh. Teachers are not aware of the fact that they need any language assessment literacy. Based on the findings, the article concludes with some suggestions which can be implemented to develop the language assessment awareness of the English teachers.
