The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) serves as the primary governing organization that provides guidelines and promotions for college athletics. The NCAA is now responsible for a context in which a growing proportion of students are Latinos. For example, Latinos are the largest growing population in the NCAA, and now the third largest participating population in intercollegiate athletics (GOALS, 2015). Yet research has not examined the perceptions or experiences of this racial group. This study aims to examine the experiences of Latino male student-athletes in Predominately White Institutions (PWIs).
