This study explored the longitudinal impact of attitude and strategy use on math achievement across elementary and secondary grades. Math attitude included three items: I am good at mathematics; I like mathematics; and, I am able to answer difficult mathematics questions. Use of math strategies included: I do my best when I do mathematics activities in class; I think about the steps I will use to solve the problem; and, I read over the problem first to make sure I know what I am supposed to do. The findings suggest developing a positive attitude and using math strategies in primary has long-term pay-offs, effectively empowering students toward greater success.
