What happens to students with disabilities who come to adult education, such as basic skills or high school equivalence preparation, and complete? This paper looks at post-education experiences for those learners who are successful at meeting initial education goals. Looking at national data and current practices, the paper explores prospects of learners taking the next step into further education or the workplace – as well as identifying what factors relate to further successes or limiting barriers. This paper considers next steps of young adults with disabilities after initial education – for those who complete high school and those leaving high school early.
