This paper is a summary of master’s thesis report. Two-level modeling technique was applied to large-scale assessment PISA 2015 in Moldova. Input-Process-Output conceptual model was used as a theoretical framework, operationalized with the achievement- and contextual data. Examining educational equity, the study found that none of the variables covered by PISA 2015 in Moldova (student SES, school SES, etc.) predicts academic performance of Moldovan students. The school-level results show: an even distribution of more- and less-qualified teachers across the schools; that Moldovan teachers generally apply an egalitarian approach to teaching; school location as the strongest school-level factor, associated with inequity in cognitive results; and the compensatory power of Romanian-medium-school teaching style against the inequity in cultural background of Moldovan students.
