Abstract

Pajares (1992) argued that a teacher’s perceptions of the classroom are a product of their experiences as students. The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship between pre-service teachers’ conceptions of assessment in their role as students, their intention to use CA and data to inform instructional decisions in their future classrooms, and attitudes towards data. Pre-service teachers (N=266) completed a questionnaire designed to measure student conceptions of assessment and intentions to use CA and data to inform instructional decisions. Results indicate pre-service teachers with more conceptions of assessment as improving their learning have greater intentions to use CA and data to inform their instructional decisions and more positive attitudes regarding data in general.
