Abstract

In this paper, the authors explore how performing post-qualitative research features in researchers’ everyday lives and their thinking. Drawing from arts-based research (particularly Erin Manning’s (2016) research-creation) and Friedrich Nietzsche’s (2005) account on shadows, we further Skype and in-person discussions we had with three post-qualitative researchers. We explore these conversations in “shadow dialogues” and “shadow texts” which we have created from these interactions. Though post-qualitative research produces joy and uncertainty, it also raises questions about how to write, how to think about doing research, and where to focus. Also, bodies step in to produce and respond to ways of going forth with one’s inquiry.
