This study explores the reflections of 37 graduating preservice teachers at 14 faculties of education across Canada. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to capture participants’ reflections on experiences which influenced the development of their inclusive instruction, beliefs and level of confidence as successful inclusive teachers. This study focused on reflections that provide insights into the role of school leaders (also known in Canada as school principals) during practicum placements. Thematic analysis suggests that preservice teachers value the school leader as an effective observer, communicator, and point of contact to help them develop as contributing members of an inclusive school community. Suggestions for further investigation are discussed.
